Some mornings begin with a quiet sunrise. Rita and Randy prefer to announce it to the entire neighbourhood.
These colourful Rainbow Lorikeets are among Brisbane's most recognisable birds. Intelligent, playful and wonderfully noisy, they spend their days chasing nectar, arguing over the best flowers and filling the air with cheerful chatter.
Their bright feathers are matched only by their personalities. Whether they're tumbling through flowering trees or hanging upside down to reach a Bottlebrush bloom, Rita and Randy remind us that nature is rarely quiet—and that's part of its charm.
Today's mission: Find a flowering Bottlebrush or Grevillea and listen for Brisbane's loudest little neighbours.
